Profile:
Sustainable development in a Reggio Emilia-inspired preschool.
Pre-school children are the future. They will lead, create and develop Sweden and the world. We want the children at Da Vinci to develop their senses and explore all areas. This makes them innovative, creative, artistic and scientific.
”Tomorrow’s entrepreneurs in Sustainable Development”
Why the name Pre-school Da Vinci?
Leonardo da Vinci was a Renaissance man. His work ”The Vitruvian Man” is a classic example of the reconciliation of art and science. A man of the Renaissance is proficient in many areas.
Pedagogical approach
In our pre-school we take inspiration from the Reggio Emilia philosophy.
A basic approach is that we see every child as unique and they take responsibility for their own development and learning. The child creates his/ her own knowledge, and has their own inherent power.
A child with a hundred languages, ie. many ways to communicate. Here we have an approach where we want to stimulate curiosity and discovery. We want to let the children do research, test their own theories and not give complete answers.
The adult must be a researcher with the child and try to challenge the child’s thoughts.
We want the children to feel confidence in their abilities, themselves and all that they do.
All activity will be guided by sustainable development where we are thinking in all dimensions; socially, ecologically and economically.
Sweden and the world need new innovations in technology. By re-using waste materials, we put the focus on recycling and building a sustainable environment.
We are confident, that by letting the children create freely with all sorts of materials, we will generate new thinking and imagination.
